"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."

annd with that, these Burtons are working! Here I am on my first day. Naturally a photo sesh by the mantle is in order.
I love my job and getting to work with Brigham everyday. Best quote of the week comes from a patient after I extracted her tooth (and please, for full effect, read in your best hickville voice) : "Can I see my tooth?" a second later... "Oh my gosh! That looks just like candy corn!!" And yes, I have to say that it honestly did. The yellow transition played out nicely. Brush your teeth, folks. No one wants candy corn teeth.
Brigham's big work accomplishment is this beaut. We have a lawn and now he can take pride mowing. When asked to comment, he replied "Awesomefest. Best mower in seven counties." I think he likes it. Our sweet neighbors mowed our lawn (probably because the jungle next door was an eyesore) and when we brought them treats to say thanks we mentioned we were looking for a lawnmower. Next day, there it was out front with a FOR SALE sign. We got the picture.
House-wise, things are coming along nicely. The downstairs is pretty much done and I love the results. Its crazy what some paint and a sewing machine can do. Here is the dining room before:
and after:
Governor Roo is not excluded from work duties. He may not have hands, but thats really no excuse in our book. He graciously volunteered to either drive or replace our garbage disposal. The driving could use some work, but the disposal is working out nicely. Side note-- after getting used to a disposal, I can't live very well without one. I've clogged the sink 3 times already. Apparently every last morsel needs to be scraped from the plates (ugh). Sooo glad I wasn't a pioneer.

And lastly, we bought a love fern. Long story short, Brig gave me one when he moved to Utah for his residency and I didn't realize it was a LOVE FERN, I thought it was just a plant he was trying to get rid of. I definitely killed it and threw it away only to find out he was planning on telling our grandkids about it in some kind of romantic heart-warming tale. I'm a jerk, I know. I felt horrible when he asked about it the next year. So, here it is, guys. The a&b love fern week 1. Let's hope I don't kill this one too. Also I'm hoping you are familiar with How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days or you are going to think this last paragraph is insane.

Yay! Happy first day :) Your house is completely adorable as well...wish we could come see it!
ReplyDeleteI love your love fern! Thanks for hanging out with us this weekend!
